Hello lovely people!

VSA had our first rehearsal for Culture Night 2012 tonight. And we are very glad to say that this year’s show will be a great experience for the participants, the cast and the volunteers. After five months of planning, three months of practicing, VSA is ready to show you the fruition of our hard work and efforts and to add a voice to the diversity of the University of Oregon. The event consists of nine performances that bring out the beauty of Vietnamese culture as well as a delicious dinner served by University Catering.

Why did we choose Stories Unfold: Mine, Yours, and Ours to be this year’s theme? The idea comes from our current goal: setting a foundation to bridge the gap between Vietnamese American students and Vietnamese international students. Stories Unfold: Mine, Yours, and Ours is not only a story between the two main characters May and Linh. It is a story of many people, many voices that we have heard and have observed in UOVSA: the people who were born in refugee camp and grew up in America as well as the people who spent their entire life in Vietnam and set their first step in America to pursue higher education. It is the story about you and me, about how we come together to embrace our precious culture and our rich heritage despite the different background.

We sincerely hope that you will find your own story through Linh and May and will understand the struggle from both sides of the story. We look forward to seeing you there!

Love,

VSA

P.S: To our wonderful casts and volunteers, we are very lucky to have you with us this year. We truly appreciate your hard work in the past few months.
